ABSTRACT
In Chapter 5 Western and Central Europe were considered in general terms, both as major world regions, and on the basis of the supranational EU. In this chapter, outstanding geographical features, issues and problems of individual countries are discussed. In Section 6.1 the original EU countries are covered in the order of joining, in Section 6.2 the remaining EU countries and the EFTA countries are examined, and in Sections 6.3 and 6.4 those of Central Europe.
