ABSTRACT

During the third millennium BC a series of changes in Denmark resulted in a settlement pattern which lasted about 2500 years. Unfortunately the archaeological record reflecting this period is rife with problems. The first difficulty concerns the time span, c. 2800-2400 BC, the time of the Single Grave culture. Most of the archaeological finds from that period were excavated in the west of Denmark, in Jutland. On the islands in eastern Denmark, finds are rare.
