ABSTRACT

Many recent books on dyslexia have listed a number of sensible and appropriate ways to tackle the difficulties encountered by individuals with dyslexia. But as Pollock and Waller (1994) point out, the concept of dyslexia at present is like a religion with people either being believers or non believers. In order to bring about a shift in some people’s outlook it is necessary to understand how prejudice and ignorance have arisen and look at the most effective ways of changing attitudes.
