This last mentioned work attempts to cover a much larger topic than sexuality, which, however, still figures significantly in what its editor calls the dramatic story of the transition from ‘civic man’ to ‘inward man’ when the ‘acid of Christianity’ was poured on the ‘Roman reagent’ (ibid. p. 1).
