ABSTRACT

Generally used as a synonym for 'example' or 'blueprint', the term 'paradigm' achieved great exposure and use throughout the sciences and social sciences from its focal role in the seminal work by Thomas Kuhn on the history of science - The Structure of Scientific Revolutions (1962). In this context, a paradigm comprised the working assumptions, procedures and findings routinely accepted by scholars in a discipline or subdiscipline, providing the stable core for their scientific activity.
