ABSTRACT

Paul Samuelson attended the universities of Chicago and Harvard, and took up the position of Assistant Professor in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1940. He has remained at MIT where he is now Institute Professor Emeritus. Samuelson's contribution to economics spans a wide range of areas, including consumer behaviour, capital theory, growth theory, WELFARE ECONOMICS, finance and international TRADE THEORY. Among many awards, he received the Nobel Prize in Economic Science in 1970.
