ABSTRACT
Diego Francisco Padilla was born 12 November 1751, in Bogotá. Following the vocation of his eight brothers, who all embraced the religious life, Diego Francisco, at the age of 16, entered the Monastery of San Agustín de Santafé, shortly thereafter to continue his university studies at the (no longer existent) San Nicolás Augustinian University in Bari, also known as the University of San Miguel, situated on the lands in front of the monastery on the north bank of the San Agustín river.
