Historians of the Reigns of Henry II and Richard I: the 'Religious'

five members of religious orders wrote well-known histories under Henry II and Richard I. The Augustinian canons are here grouped with the monks though their order was not, by strict definition, monastic. But at this period their historiography was much influenced by the Benedictine historians, and their background and outlook closely resembled those of the monks.
