ABSTRACT

It has been shown that the site of Kahun and its related artefacts are of considerable significance to our understanding both of the way in which a town of the Middle Kingdom functioned in ancient Egypt and also, of the technologies of the period which were developed to meet the needs of the society. Also, the wealth of articles of everyday use found at this one excavated site themselves ensure that Kahun is regarded as a town of outstanding interest to archaeologists and historians.
