Compton Mackenzie, ‘Film or Book?', Daily Mail

The most recent novel by Mackenzie (1883–1972), the popular English novelist, had been Our Street (1931). He was at work on Water on the Brain (1933). Edmund Wilson felt critics were not paying enough attention to Mackenzie's work.
