Lionel Trilling, ‘The America of John Dos Passos', Partisan Review

Trilling (1905–75), the American critic, taught at Columbia for more than forty years with visiting appointments at Harvard and Oxford. He is the author of many important works of literary criticism, including The LiberalImagination (1950), Beyond Culture (1965), and Sincerity and Authenticity (1972).
