ABSTRACT

Given all the concerns raised in Chapter 1, the question naturally arises: Is dancing hazardous to your health? A reasonable response might be: “Not if you know what you're doing and you're physically capable.” Indeed, many of the risk factors for injury can be managed. Dancers working within their limitations know that the joy and satisfaction from dancing is worth the effort and the challenge. Further, dancers can greatly extend their years of dancing by learning to minimize the risk of injury, much less enjoy a higher quality of life —i.e., good health in later years, after they stop dancing.
