ABSTRACT

We began this book with a quote from Crow Lake, a novel that puts a relationship with a brother at the heart of the central character’s emotional experience and thereby points to the intricate and subtle weave of sibling bonds. In this book we have put sisters and brothers at the core of our analysis in order to learn about the emotional and social processes through which identities are formed, and the importance of children’s and young people’s relationships with their siblings for these processes.
