ABSTRACT
The occurrence of violence on television can be coloured by a variety of characteristics which can have independent and inter-dependent effects on viewers’ reactions to violent portrayals. One intrinsic ingredient of any violent scene is the setting in which it occurs. This variable may refer to the temporal location or historical period in which violence occurs or the physical environment and geographical location in which it occurs.
