ABSTRACT
By exploring students’ views of schooling a complex array of factors begin to be uncovered which start to explain the diversity of individual responses in the classroom. Each student is developing a self-image and classroom experiences that are both affected, and shaped, by their past and contemporary experiences. As one begins to know about the lives of young people, some understanding of their classroom responses emerges.
