ABSTRACT
Audience numbers for large-scale theatre work can vary enormously; from a few thousand up to the 15,000 who watched Welfare State’s ‘Burning of the Houses of Parliament’ in 1981. Without the aid of an amphitheatre it is hard to imagine many more being able to see a single event. Welfare State were helped by their choice of location on top of a hill.
