ABSTRACT
We have seen in the previous chapter that subjectivity can in principle be evoked linguistically by means of a set of expressive features. We have noted, additionally, thatcontrary to the predictions of Banfield’s theory-these expressive elements also occur in indirect discourse and even in narrative sentences (Chapters 4 to 6).
