ABSTRACT
Frequently we see on television examples of conduct that would be unethical for psychologists carrying out research. These activities include:
hidden cameras taking pictures of illegal activities without the consent of those involved;
reporters misinforming individuals about the purpose of interviews;
chat shows in which the private lives of people not present in the studio are discussed; and
people being made to look foolish in candid camera situations.
