ABSTRACT
About the year 900 a group of scholars met in Baghdad. As they discussed various academic points, one among them, Abe xl-musayn al-Nerc, remained silent. Suddenly he stood up and began to recite four verses of love poetry. His recitation had such an overpowering effect that all those present went into a frenzy of delight and ecstasy.
