ABSTRACT

Paediatric implantation has been the subject of great controversy, but has also been described as the single most important development in the audiological management of deaf children in recent years ... most teachers of the deaf, whether in the UK or elsewhere, can now expect to work with children using cochlear implants during their careers. It is therefore imperative that teachers in training and those seeking to update their professional expertise, should ensure they are aware of the issues concerning cochlear implantation.
