ABSTRACT

Record keeping could arguably be the most difficult aspect of teaching pupils with PMLD. From experience, problems arise from attempting to keep records which are sufficiently detailed to be useful while being simple enough to ensure delivery, and it is important to decide what to record, when to record, how to record and for whom to record. Each of these issues will be discussed in an attempt to provide guidelines to an efficient and user-friendly system, and a sample record keeping sheet is offered in Part 2 to demonstrate one way in which recording could be managed.
