ABSTRACT

How will you ensure that children achieve their potential in learning? You might mention the importance of careful and systematic observation, talking to children about their progress (conferencing), determining what stage children have reached in their learning through systematic testing, the need to take account of their speed of work and the circumstances under which learning took place. It is worth stressing that it is good to have high but not unreasonable expectations of children and to foster a climate of mutual endeavour and peer support. Emphasize that potential is not a fixed attribute and can be extended through good teaching, which it is your job to provide.
