What attitude will you adopt towards parents? Decide to what extent you see parents as consumers, clients or customers, and check the school prospectus to find out how much parents assist voluntarily in the classroom. It is essential to promote a view that parents are partners in learning rather than soul mates or the enemy or well-intentioned outsiders who should keep their distance. Stress that parents are the ‘first’ educators of their children and that this principle should be respected and built on. Tell the panel that you believe that all parents want the best for their children and that you do not intend to let them down.
