ABSTRACT

The message of this chapter is essentially a summary of everything which has gone before. In examinations, your role is to ensure that you operate assessment to the highest levels that you can; in setting the tests, in summatively assessing tests, in managing the strict timescales and numbers of staff involved with sufficient checks in place to ensure optimal fairness. In essence, like a competitive race, an exam requires the assessor (as well as the assessed) to apply their skills in a limited time to a situation which has been known about for the whole course.
