ABSTRACT

It is somewhat surprising that so much is currently made of the fact that teaching is often experienced as a ‘stressful profession’. When the actual job is considered-what each teacher has to do every day, the sheer number of people with whom they must communicate, what they are held accountable for, and the amount that the job encroaches on personal life-is it any surprise? There are some aspects of the job that are simply unavoidably stressful; but, then, we know that, don’t we?
