ABSTRACT
Foot remained in the House of Commons until 1992, representing Ebbw Vale between 1960 and 1983 and Blaenau Gwent from 1983 until 1992. He was particularly prominent in the House of Commons, commenting in humorous fashion on the Westland affair of 1985/6, which saw Michael Heseltine, the Defence Secretary, resign from Margaret Thatcher’s Conservative government on the issue of the style in which government was conducted.
