ABSTRACT
Only the Labour movement was more generous, with the Labour Party Annual Conference Report, January 1916, declaring that ‘he pioneered the coming of the Labour Party as we know it, and fully earned the honour of being the first Chairman of the Parliamentary Labour Party when it entered the House of Commons in 1906’.
