ABSTRACT
The discussion of playing a game according to a definite rule in §54 is something of a digression, and Wittgenstein now returns to his consideration of the argument about analysis and genuine names introduced in §39. He explores the idea that the simples corresponding to genuine names are indestructible and takes issue with the all-important philosophical view that the real meanings of sentences are expressed by their fully analysed counterparts.
