ABSTRACT

There are numerous types of masonry wall construction which may be classed under the headings of loadbearing or non-loadbearing, internal or external and according to the type and material of the units. A further distinction arises as between walls which are of the same thickness as the units and those which are of greater thickness than this. As described in previous chapters, the relevant design criteria depend on which, or which combination, of these categories a particular wall belongs.
