ABSTRACT

The last chapter outlined some of the developmental histories and dysfunctions of socialisation experienced by many victims of childhood and adult bullying. It is inevitable that such dysfunctional experiences would be reflected in adult personality characteristics, some of which may predispose individuals to being the targets of bullying in adulthood. Evidence will be presented that the personality structures thus formed are associated with stable patterns of interpersonal behaviour which may become the antecedents of bullying in the workplace. In this chapter, the personality structures found amongst some victims are considered and also those structures that are associated with people who are bully-victims. This refers to those people who are victims of workplace bullying but who are also the source of bullying experiences to others.
