Attitudes expressed by the nurses about patients they most enjoyed caring for

Sometimes a nurse would say that the person she most enjoyed looking after was a patient who did not rank high with any of the other nurses. In these instances the reason invariably given was that this was the patient they knew best, often explaining why this was so, such as the fact that they had ‘specialled’ him when ill, or had accompanied him to a lengthy investigation; on two occasions the nurses had met these patients before in a different ward.
