ABSTRACT
By 1899 Davis had carried the ideal geographical cycle about as far as any simple qualitative model could be carried. He first applied it to rivers, then to drainage basins and so to whole regions or vast physical landscapes. It was a visual method of analysis meant, unfortunately, to obviate the need for quantitative analysis.
