ABSTRACT

In this chapter we concentrate on psychological problems and psychological adjustment in the young people. As noted already, the few studies which have been made of disabled children and young people suggest that those with neurological impairment (which would include those with cerebral palsy and spina bifida with hydrocephalus) are particularly likely to have emotional or behavioural problems. In this chapter, we look at the adjustment of the young people while in their last year at school, and in chapter 6 at some of the main factors associated with adjustment.
