ABSTRACT

Quantitative techniques or, in general, decision models are a useful aid for arriving at correct decisions and in demonstrating the basis of those decisions to others. The fundamental principle of the techniques is to allow the various relevant factors to be identified, quantified and then combined with the objective of achieving a rational analysis of the problem. Such techniques are also useful to the manager, in that they structure his thought processes and help to ensure that all the relevant factors in each case are considered.
