ABSTRACT

Usual concrete must be cured. No one has any doubts about it. But this does not mean that concrete is always well cured, if it is cured at all. For usual concretes, water curing is necessary to ensure the highest degree of hydration possible in order to obtain the highest strength and the lowest permeability (Neville, 1995). Uncured concrete dries more or less rapidly, depending on its water/binder ratio, since it never even approaches its full strength and durability potential. Early curing is always better than late curing, and in the case of usual concretes late curing is better than no curing at all.
