ABSTRACT
In the previous chapter I suggested that there is a fundamental difference between the feminism of the nineteenth century and the feminism of today, and that a changed analysis of the State and of State welfare provision is a centrally important part of this difference. I have also suggested earlier that only an analysis of the Welfare State that bases itself on a correct understanding of the position of women in modern society can reveal the full meaning of modern welfarism.
