Most transvestites are not spies. Indeed, recent statistics in Massachusetts suggest that most transvestites in that state, for example, are married heterosexual truck drivers or computer engineers.1 But some of the most famous transvestites in history have been “actresses,” diplomats, and spies. Why should this be?
