ABSTRACT

In Chapter 2 I divided nouns into four types: concrete, proper, collective and abstract. However, that is not the full story: nouns also divide into six classes – a more sophisticated matter, though overlapping with that earlier material:

1 Nouns are either proper or common. 2 The latter are then further divisible into count and noncount nouns. 3 And both count and noncount nouns can then be divided into

concrete or abstract.
