ABSTRACT
Vajrayāna, the ‘Vehicle’ (or ‘Way’; yāna) of the ‘Thunderbolt’ (or ‘Diamond’; vajra) is an expression that overlaps with ‘tantric Buddhism’ (see Tantra). This is in its broadest sense the employment within a Buddhist context of ritual magic to attain worldly goals, and even Buddhahood itself.
