ABSTRACT
Mel has emphasised the importance of in-service training to develop the expertise and professional skills of teachers, and that this should be a structured programme linked to the development plan. This separate staff development plan, which is part of the development plan, allows for some element of individual development, as well as being consistent with the general development plan. Another approach is to devise subject development plans, which we consider in Chapter 5.
