ABSTRACT

VAL DUCHESSE is a chateau on the outskirts of Brussels variously associated with the European Communities and the European Union. It was at Val Duchesse that the Spaak Report (see Paul-Henri Spaak) was drawn up in 1955-56. More recently, in 1985, the chateau gave its name to the process of social dialogue between the employers represented by the Union o f Industrial and Employers’ Confederations o f Europe (UNICE), employees represented by the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), and the European Centre of Public Enterprises.
