ABSTRACT

When your essay is assessed it will be marked on two things: how much geography you know and how good you are at writing essays. The marks you get for both of these will be affected by the quality of your presentation. First, if the essay is badly presented the marker will not think highly of your essay skills. Second, if the essay is badly presented the reader is more likely to misunderstand things that you have written, to miss some of the important points that you have made, or to lose the thread of your argument and not realize what a good answer you were hiding behind the shoddy exterior of your presentation. Good presentation gets credit in its own right and also makes it possible for your geography to shine through clearly and get the credit it deserves. Bad presentation gets marks knocked off and obscures the quality of the geography that you have written.
