ABSTRACT

Microbiology Pseudomonas, Stenotrophomonas and Burkholderia are motile, strictly aerobic, Gram-negative bacilli which are oxidase positive. They grow on minimal carbon and nitrogen sources, including simple media and moist surfaces. The most important species of these genera include P. aeruginosa, S. maltophilia, B. capacia, B. mallei and B. pseudomallei. They resist antiseptic solutions and many antibiotics.
