ABSTRACT
Microbiology Clostridia are Gram-positive, spore-forming and strictly anaerobic rod-shaped bacteria. The genus consists of a number of medically important pathogens, including Clostridium perfringens, C. tetani, C. botulinum and C. difficile. They can be differentiated on the basis of their biochemical activities, including saccharolysis and proteolysis.
