In vitro sensitivity tests Bacterial pathogens are tested for their susceptibility to antibiotics to guide antibiotic treatment. Sensitivity tests are generally performed from single pure bacterial colonies on an agar plate. Direct sensitivity tests are set up directly from specimens or liquid cultures, producing quicker, but less standardized results.
