ABSTRACT

PROTESTS AGAINST CORPORATE RULE did not end in Seattle. Just four months after the demonstrations against the WTO, tens of thousands of people gathered in Washington, DC, to protest the policies of the WTO’s cousins: the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, institutions that promote corporate interests and free-market fundamentalism at the expense of the world’s poor majority. Similar demonstrations against the IMF and World Bank took place in Washington in September 2002.
