CUBA’S MAIN PROBLEMS, Castro noted in his “History Will Absolve Me” defense for his Moncada attack, were land, industrialization, housing, unemployment, education, and health. He also expressed concern with the plight of the unemployed and only seasonally employed, the exploited industrial worker, the underpaid teacher, and the debt-ridden small businessman. He said he would have taken immediate steps to combat these issues and to assure everyone a decent livelihood, plus restore public liberties and political democracy, had he taken power.1
