ABSTRACT
In early infancy, the effects of improving muscle tone, strength and coordination are apparent in all movements. Improving eyehand coordination and refinement of movements enable infants to explore the world. At the same time the development of perceptual and non-verbal cognitive abilities — mental representation of objects, working memory and flexible and sustained attention — also become apparent in many of the infants' activities.
