I/ME I/me is a central aspect of George Herbert Mead’s evolutionary social psychology which gives an account of how individual thought and selfconsciousness naturally emerge as products of reflexive discourse. The nominative and objective personal pronouns ‘‘I’’ and ‘‘me’’ are used to distinguish interlocutors in this reflexive discourse, in later evolutionary stages, wherein I converses with me.
