ABSTRACT

PANENTHEISM Panentheism is the view that everything is in God. It is perhaps best understood in contrast to pantheism and traditional theism. Pantheism says that all is God, and God is all, such that reality and divinity are identical (e.g. Spinoza). Traditional theism, on the other hand, makes a strong distinction between the creator and the created, such that they are utterly separate. Panentheism is a middle path. It states that everything is in God, but that God is more than everything. The analogy often given is that between mind and body: God is the mind of the world, and the world is God’s body.
